    7. Objectives, learning outcomes and obtained knowledge

    Provide in-depth knowledge and competences for  tasks realted to the development and realization of a real-time sense-think-act loops in autonomous systems. The course peresnets the concpets using the most widely used development environments.

    8. Synopsis
    Lectures:
    Week 1: Rapid control prototyping methodologies for autonomous systems. Features and services of rapid control prototyping environments. V-model of the design process, diagram-based tools.
    Week 2: Graphical programming paradigms The LabVIEW environment, the G language, flow control structures.
    Week 3: Parallel execution in LabVIEW and the use of design patterns.
    Week 4: Iteration of a LabVIEW program, supporting numerical methods, algebraic loops, numerical integration.
    Week 5: Iteration of Simulink models, block libraries, sample time management.
    Week 6: User-defined functions and S-function structures in Simulink.
    Week 7: Code generation and acceleration of the iteration. Mex files, services of the Matlab compiler.
    Week 8: Iteration on real-time targets, automatic code generation, link with the generated code, run-time services.
    Week 9: Services supported by code generation: software-in-the-loop, processor-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop simulations.
    Week 10: Simulink Coder and example of available targets (NI, dSPACE, Quanser, etc.).
    Week 11: Development cycles and procedures using rapid control prototyping, data logging and processing services.
    Week 12: Control loops and their descriptions, state-space equations.
    Week 13: State-space design of SISO LTI control loops (state feedback, state observers).
    Week 14: Summary, case studies about the application of rapid control prototyping technologies.
    Practice sessions (7 sessions of two contact hours):
    Session 1: Use of the LabVIEW environment, part 1.
    Session 2: Use of the LabVIEW environment, part 2.
    Session 3: Simulation of dynamical systems, ODE solvers.
    Session 4: Use of Simulink and creation of user-defined blocks.
    Session 5: Automatic code generation in Simulink.
    Session 6: State-space feedback design in continuous and discrete-time.
    Session 7: Observer design and implementation.
    9. Method of instruction Two hours of lectures and one hour of computer room practice weekly.
